Alex R Parra

Parra has been involved in the coverage of major sporting event and leagues for over 30 years. He began his broadcasting career in the news department at Telemundo Houston and became one of the first journalists to work in both Spanish and English language media when he joined Fox 26 Houston. As a producer, host and commentator, Parra has worked with Fox Sports International covering PGA Golf, NFL Football, ATP and WTA Tennis, Bundesliga Soccer and the United States and Mexico National Soccer teams.

 

He has also served as Spanish language commentator for the NBA Houston Rockets for 9 seasons and the MLS Houston Dynamo. He was co-host of the first daily ESPN Deportes Radio program (Voces del Deporte) in Houston history and Executive Producer and host of the first official Spanish language team broadcast of the MLB Houston Astros (Contacto con los Astros). In the realm of boxing, Parra was co-creator and Executive Producer of the first bi-lingual radio program in the United States, El Baby Bull Show, featuring World Boxing Champion Juan Diaz and airing on Univision Radio. Parra was also part of the first ever season long University of Oklahoma Spanish language radio broadcasts. For 4 seasons, he was the Spanish language voice of the MLS Houston Dynamo FC Television broadcasts. In a long history of Firsts, in 2022 Parra was commentator for the first ever Spanish language. broadcasts on Major League Rugby(MLR).He was Color Analyst for Big12 Women’s Soccer on ESPN as a well as Analyst for the first official Spanish language audio stream of the Houston Dash (NWSL).

 

In his over 30 year involvement in the sport of soccer, Parra has been a player, coach, administrator, referee, broadcaster, club director, board member and advocate for the beautiful game. 

 

Parra is a graduate of the University of Houston with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Spanish.
